The Backbone Floral mobile dried flower bar is exactly what it sounds like - we roll into your venue with a table full of dried stems in every texture and color we could get our hands on, and your guests build their own arrangement to take home. No experience required. No water required. No wilting on the ride home.
It's the rare event activity that works for a room of executives and a room of bridesmaids equally well, and we've done both.
How the flower bar works
1. We set up. We arrive early and build the bar - a full spread of dried florals, wraps, twine, and everything else needed. You don't lift a thing.
2. Your guests design. They browse the stems, pick what they love, and build an arrangement that's entirely theirs. We're there the whole time to help anyone who wants help, and to stay out of the way of anyone who'd rather just play.
3. We wrap and clean up. Every arrangement gets wrapped for the trip home. Then we pack out and leave the space exactly how we found it.
Total time on site is typically and hour and a half to two hours, depending on guest count.

Why dried florals for events
Fresh flowers are beautiful for a day. Dried florals are beautiful for years, and that difference matters more at an event than anywhere else.
They don't wilt. San Diego heat, a warm ballroom, a patio in August — none of it touches them. We can build the bar hours before guests arrive and it looks identical when they get there.
They travel. Guests can leave an arrangement in a car, take it on a plane, or forget it in a hotel room overnight, and it survives all three.
They last. A fresh bouquet from your event is in the trash by Thursday. A dried arrangement is still on a bookshelf three years later. For corporate hosts, that's brand presence you can't buy any other way.
They're low-waste. No refrigeration, no floral foam, no compost pile at the end of the night.

We serve all of San Diego County, including Downtown, La Jolla, Del Mar, Coronado, North Park, Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Chula Vista. Travel outside the county is available for larger events - just ask!
Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should I book? Four to six weeks is ideal, especially for fall and holiday dates. That said, if you're on a tighter timeline, reach out anyway — we can sometimes make it work.
How many guests can you accommodate? We've run bars from ten guests to well over a hundred. Larger groups mean a longer window or additional staff, both of which we'll build into your quote.
Do guests need any experience with flowers? None at all. That's the entire point. Our team walks anyone who wants help through it, and most people are surprised by what they make.
Can you match our brand or wedding colors? Yes. Send us your palette and we'll source to it. Custom color sourcing needs a bit more lead time, so mention it early.
What kind of space do we need? A table roughly six to eight feet long and room for guests to move around it. Indoors or outdoors both work — dried florals don't care about heat or sun.
Do you handle setup and cleanup? Completely. We arrive early, set up, run the bar, and pack out. You won't have anything to do.
How long do the arrangements last? Years, with essentially no upkeep. Keep them out of direct moisture and extreme temperatures and dust them occasionally. That's it.
Do you offer this outside of San Diego? For larger events, yes. Get in touch and we'll talk through travel.
